CIRCUM Railing Supports Open Concept Campus Addition

A recently unveiled HDI railing and LED installation provides a critical passageway for a cutting-edge college renovation. The Mt. San Antonio College Business & Computer Technology Center furthers the Walnut, CA campus’ mission to provide a wide range of educational opportunities, from associate degrees to youth summer programs.

Slated for completion in spring 2018, the campus addition is comprised of three buildings that offer learning beyond traditional lecture classrooms. HDI Circum™ Round railings serve as a critical connecting point to the sloping site design, which features entrances and lobbies at multiple levels. The $64-million, 106,000,000 square foot complex consolidates campus business and computer programs into one central area featuring technology centers, lab-based learning environments, and a student-run restaurant.

Modern Learning, Modern Look

The brushed stainless steel appearance of the Circum railing system is the perfect complement to Mt. SAC’s Los Angeles aesthetic. The addition’s modernist feel is echoed across multi-function student and public spaces, conference rooms, outdoor breakout patios, a campus store and an indoor/open-air restaurant.

The CIRCUM round post railing system is constructed with mechanical threaded connections to ensure an exact and secure fitting. All railings are fully assembled at the manufacturer, are deconstructed for shipping, and can be fully assembled in sections at the installation site.

The CIRCUM round post railing with a brushed finish and high quality 316 stainless steel was chosen to withstand the outdoor environment.

The sleek stair railing install is enhanced by the Circum LED lighting system featuring cool white tones. All wiring is concealed within the railing system to the connection point with the electric service for security and durability. Service is low voltage with special heat sink designs within the railing to keep rails cool either indoors or outdoors. All wiring, power supplies and coordination with other trades are provided by HDI.

Sustainable building materials, coupled with energy-efficient LED lighting, contribute to LEED construction certification at Mt. SAC.  For future applications, CIRCUM is available in curved or straight rails with LED to provide total design flexibility.
