A Custom Railing That Spawned a Product Line

We recently completed some custom railing work for an architect that evolved into an entire product line. The project involved a series of buildings in Anaheim Concourse 2, part of a master-planned 1.3 million-square-foot industrial development in North Orange County, California. The buildings include high-end warehouse and office space, and the architect wanted a cable railing system that mixed modern and industrial features.
A Clean Industrial Look
The architect approached HDI because of our ability to build custom railings. We developed a side-mounted railing system combining 1” x 3” stainless steel posts, round stainless handrails and stainless steel cable infills. The system provides high visibility through the cables for a clean, minimalist look that perfectly complements the space.
The project encompassed four identical buildings, which received two stairs of the custom HDI railing system apiece. HDI handled installation. The buildings were phased so that installation flowed from one building to another without interruption. Businesses occupying the new space include Hestan Vineyards and Maxlite.
KOTO™ Is Born
With a few minor tweaks, the system became the foundation for KOTO, our newest railing line. Like all of our railing systems, KOTO is available with a wide range of options such as stainless and wood railings, a variety of fasteners and more.
