Video Walkthroughs Facilitate Railing
System Design and Installation
Published 01/19/16
The process of taking any aspect of a construction process from the visions in the designer’s, contractor’s and client’s minds to the final physical result can be challenging, even with highly detailed plans and drawings. Railing systems are no different – a good designer needs to help everyone involved in the project “see” the envisioned design in order to have a final result that pleases everyone.
HDI has begun modeling all approval drawings in Revit, and will begin providing renderings and videos of the proposed product as a standard part of each submittal package. Traditional plans, elevations and details will now be supplemented with high quality renderings and video walkthroughs, allowing anyone to see more easily how the railings fit into the project environment.
Seeing the railings rendered in a spatial form will allow everyone from the person measuring the stair and structure for the railings to the contractors coordinating the trades, as well as the installers who ultimately bring the final design to life, to more clearly visualize the design intent, connections, attachments and alignment with other building elements such as windows or columns. Most importantly, this will help the architect achieve a greater level of comfort that the space or environment being constructed will become the design concept they envisioned it to be.
Below is a sample showing what such a rendering will look like.
Be sure to include rendered model views and video walkthroughs as part of the submittal requirements in the railing specifications for your next project. To learn more, contact us today!
