HDI Railing Gives Roofing Training Center a Boost

New technologies and product advancements are pushing the commercial roofing industry to new heights. Carlisle Syntec, an industry-leading roof supplier, recognized the need for a learning hub to keep up with the trade’s evolving nature. When it was time to put the final touches on their state-of-the-art training facility, HDI Railing Systems was happy to lend support.

Unveiled in early 2018, Carlisle’s Training and Education Center boasts a footprint of approximately 68,000 square feet and includes interior and exterior spaces for hands-on and classroom-style training. The training and conference center serves as an educational hub for the commercial roofing industry and features a 125-person conference auditorium with tiered seating, multiple breakout rooms, offices, and conference rooms.

Carlisle turned to HDI for a railing system that could withstand high traffic use from roofing contractors, architects, consultants, employees, and other professionals spending time in the new facility. The CIRCUM™ Square Post system was selected to match the sleek, modern aesthetic echoed throughout the training facility.

CIRCUM Square Post is constructed with mechanical threaded connections to ensure an exact and secure fitting. Carlisle requested custom side mounts to fit the expedited project. HDI was able to easily deliver, creating rectangular base plates cut to fit existing elements of the facility. All railings are fully assembled in HDI’s Columbia, Pennsylvania factory and then deconstructed into fully assembled sections to ensure efficient installation.

The railing system outfits the training center’s lobby area and indoor balconies. An angled, stainless steel centerpiece stair serves as a major focal point. High quality 304, 240-grain steel was selected to match existing metal elements and decor in the facility lobby. The guardrails consist of 2″ square posts, 1-1/2″ diameter top rail and 4mm cable infills.

Seminars and training are already well underway at the facility, featuring an outdoor conditions lab, advanced audio and video equipment, an interactive video wall, and a variety of informal gathering spaces and breakout rooms.
