Hutton Construction recently completed a major renovation project within the Northlawn Performing Arts Education Building on the campus of Hesston College in Hesston, KS. When they needed the perfect railing system to complement the building’s new look and personality, they reached out to HDI.

“I was pleased with HDI’s help,” Luke Amend, Hutton Construction’s Project Manager, stated when asked about his experiences working alongside HDI’s team. “The railing system looks great!”

Northlawn has stood on the Hesston campus since 1970, and has been a hub of activity over the past 45 years. Open 24-hours a day with numerous study and practice areas available to students after normal business hours, student traffic through the building never stops.

In addition to remodeling existing space, the showpiece of the renovation was the construction of a brand new lobby addition which will serve as the building’s main entrance, with a main staircase as the largest architectural feature of the addition. It’s going to be seeing a lot of action, as anyone entering the building for any reason is likely to be using the stairway and its railing system.

In this particular case, HDI worked with Hutton to determine the best choice in railing systems from both aesthetic and functional points of view. The railings were produced and delivered to the work site for the contractor to install. HDI is happy to work with contractors this way, or to be onsite helping out by handling the install ourselves.
