Members 1st Federal Credit Union began construction on their brand new headquarters in Hampden Township, Pennsylvania, in August of 2020 and finished the project in early 2022. The building’s architects selected HDI Railing’s Optik™ Boss with glass infill panels to be installed throughout the facility. The floating glass aesthetic that Optik™ Boss provides integrates cohesively with the additional architectural elements within the building.

The Optik™ Boss railing system begins in the building’s main lobby staircase, then continues to the upper levels and around the balconies overlooking the main lobby. The main lobby’s stairwell explores the notion of walkability with unobtrusive views thanks to discreet hardware featured within HDI’s Optik™ Boss system. Glass is one of the few materials that can be used to activate spaces using natural light, making it the ideal material for stairways. With HDI’s glass infill panels, you can choose from different colors, textures and designs including curved glass. In addition, you can also choose other custom design options per consultation with HDI’s technical staff.
As a turnkey operation with a host of resources, HDI assists the project teams it works with. The HDI factory assembled the railings fully, then deconstructed them into fully assembled sections
for ease of shipping and to ensure the most efficient installation. HDI conducted multiple site visits to the Members 1st facility and consulted with Hershock’s excellent installation crew to
ensure a quick and efficient installation of the Optik™ Boss railing system.
The Members 1st headquarters features 185,000 square feet and 73,000 square feet of glass, allowing natural light to stream into the building. The new headquarters is home to a host of facilities including collaborative workspaces, a café, and a fitness center. “This building signifies much more than a construction project that spanned over 600 days during a global health pandemic. It marks an exciting new milestone for the growth of our business and the exciting future ahead for our members and associates,” said the credit union’s Senior Vice President of Facilities Dale Gingrich.
