Challenges and Solutions
Meeting Complex Design Needs
The staircase and balcony designs posed a challenge due to their curvature and need for precision. HDI utilized 3D laser scanning to capture exact site measurements, ensuring the glass panels were tailored to fit seamlessly with the stainless steel railing system.
Custom Glass Integration
To achieve a unique look, frosted gradient glass was selected, requiring meticulous design and fabrication. HDI provided detailed glass panel drawings to simplify the process for Silicon Valley Glass, ensuring flawless execution.
Innovative Approach
HDI’s use of 3D laser scanning and BIM technology ensured unmatched precision, reducing potential errors during manufacturing and installation. These innovations not only streamlined the process but also aligned perfectly with California’s stringent building codes.
Results
The Kubit™ railing system, paired with custom frosted gradient glass, transformed the library into a visually stunning and highly functional space. The design enhances openness while maintaining the necessary safety standards.
